Originally imported by Al Music from Italy, "Music" has become one of the most widely grown garlic varieties among gardeners and commercial hardneck growers.
Music performs very well in cold climates and is an extremely robust grower that produces large plants that stand out. It has big bulbs with very large cloves (averages 4 to 6 cloves per bulb). Scape removal is important for maximum bulb size.
Outer wrappers tend to be white (therefore the name porcelain) with some slight purple coloring of the clove skins. Cloves are hot when eaten raw, sweet when baked, and mild when cooked.
Each pound typically has 30 to 40 cloves per pound and can plant 15-20 feet of row. Each successfully grown clove will produce one full bulb and should yield 5 times what was planted.
