Cover crops, also known as green manure, are grown primarily to benefit the soil rather than for harvest. The plants cover and protect bare soil, improve structure, increase fertility and feed pollinators. Best practice is to plant ¼ to ⅓ of your growing area with cover crops or green manure each season.
